Reverse Study Abroad: International Students in the U.S.

Before choosing a college in the U.S. understand not only the educational and academic experience, understand the social environment of the university and its location.  Understanding how the local community will support and incorporate international diversity can help students transition and focus on their academic pursuits.

U.S. students consider the same issues when choosing colleges away from home.  Familiar restaurants, stores or a similar sense of community can help students feel comfortable faster; thus, being able to take advantage of opportunities both on and off the college campus more quickly.

American students gain from international diversity on their campuses.  The differences in perspective and culture can help students broaden their understanding.  Many colleges promote their international diversity in attracting both international and U.S. students to their campuses.
