In a recent interview with Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle, I shared what one one second year college student now attempting to continue his studies in Northern California not in Boston, called a “bizarre” situation. Tens of thousands of other college students who also returned home from their college campuses are now experiencing: a virtual college experience.
Back at home, many in the confines of childhood bedrooms, back under the watchful eyes of parents, they no longer can have spontaneous all-night existential discussions about life, wander around downtown clubs, attend interesting guest lectures and panel discussions, or cheer for college teams. Now, they’re grieving the sudden separation from their college experience, what one student called, “A Massive L[oss]”.
