To effectively brainstorm topics for college essays, students must be interviewed by an experienced advisor, who not only knows the college admissions process, but applies their experience within the context of an anxious teenager seeking to define their life’s vision.
When teens query themselves in some me-talking-with-me, thinking exercise, they will unwittingly dismiss ideas, not connect one event to the next, or panic, squeezing their memories for “the right” topic.
If they opt to brainstorm with parents, relatives or family friends they risk diminishing the quality of their essays in order to conform to family group think and confirmation bias—none of which is effective.
Thus, brainstorming topics for college essays without an interview is like climbing Mt. Everest without a jacket.
Creative Marbles was founded by teachers who appreciate helping students craft insightful essays, first in the academic classroom, now as part of the complex college admissions process. For more information, please contact us
